Publisher's Descriptions
FireCompass will allow streamlined access to the main map and driving directions services
Buttons are made available in this address entry UI for:
· obtaining a map at the left address,
· obtaining a map at the right address,
· obtaining driving directions from the left address to the right address, and
· obtaining driving directions from the right address to the left address.
Of course, the user should be able to close the tool. A cancel button may be provided for convenience, though the window's close button may be sufficient (especially for the initial submission).
The tool allows the user to save a list of addresses for use in later queries. This list is stored as a user preference associated with the extension. Above each of the two address fields in the address entry UI, there is a dropdown that allows the user to choose an address to prepopulate the corresponding address field with. (Each stored address is represented in the dropdown by a name the user assigns.)
Another dropdown exists for the user to select which service to use, between Google, MapQuest, and Yahoo.
Via a "preferences" button, the user may access another UI window for adjusting user preferences. User preferences stored are:
· an address stiring,
· an optional designation of a default address to pre-populate the left address field with in the address entry UI, and
· the default service to be selected in the service dropdown in the address entry UI.
When the user opts to receive driving directions, a new window pops up consisting of the expected driving steps involved, as fetched from the selected service. A link also appears to the webpage the information was obtained from.
When the user opts to see a map centered at a given address, a new window pops up containing the map, as fetched from the selected service. As with the driving directions, a link appears to the webpage the information was obtained from.
· Firefox 2.0.0 - 2.0.0 *
